She is an esteemed member of the Beijing Fine Artists Association and the Beijing Female Fine Artists Association. Calligraphy text reads: 筆头风月时时过 The wind and the moon pass by every now and then, 眼底尘寰渐渐多 the dust in the bottom of my eyes grows more and more, 无日不风波 and there is no day without a storm. 刘彦 Liu Yan Artist’s “swallow” chop mark can be found along the left-middle edge. The significance of the symbol in her words: "My name meaning, when my mother gave birth to me she first sees the bird. So she gave me the name.” The painting itself measures approximately 17x14.25 inches, not including the silk border. The frame measures 21x18.5 inches. The painting appears to be in overall good condition: paper has waves, a few light creases, dark flecks/spots scattered throughout, a couple of very small areas with paint loss. The painting is behind glass and has not been removed from the original frame for further inspection. This ink and mixed media painting seamlessly blends Chinese painting traditions with bold modernity, with its glitter and metallic pigments adding a touch of opulence to the composition. She is currently a Professor of Painting and Drawing at the College of Fine Arts of the Capital Normal University. She is an esteemed member of the Beijing Fine Artists Association and the Beijing Female Fine Artists Association. An introspective artist, she believes that, "an outstanding artwork should be touched by the artist's soul and emotions with a personal angle."
