Description: The Kazake Pomegranate tree, a Russian selection, is renowned for being one of the most cold-hardy pomegranates trialed in the U.S., making it an excellent choice for gardeners in cooler climates, including the Northwest. It produces large crops of lighter-colored fruit with yellow to light red skin and dark red arils that are sweet-tart in flavor. The arils have a high juice content and consistently rate high in taste tests, though the seeds are hard and not recommended for swallowing. Kazake Pomegranate trees are also highly disease-resistant and resistant to fruit-cracking, with the added benefit of producing large fruits that can be stored longer than many other varieties. With an average yield of 36 fruits per tree and early ripening, this variety is both productive and reliable. NOTE: These are started from cuttings, and NOT tissue culture, plants are shipped in 1 gallon pots and will vary in size from batch to batch, so they may be from 1ft-2ft tall.
