Description: Heinz Balli: Swiss organist, born 1941 in Bern, Switzerland. Heinz Balli was born in Bern in 1941 and, after training as a primary school teacher, completed his music studies at the Bern Conservatory with Edwin Peter (organ) and Suzanne Eggli (piano). After obtaining the teaching diplomas for organ and piano and the organ soloist diploma, further studies followed in Paris with Marie-Claire Alain and as a participant in various master classes with Anton Heiller (Vienna) and Luigi Ferndinando Tagliavini (Bologna). In 1971 Heinz Balli was awarded 1st prize at the International Organ Competition in Bologna, and in the same year he was also a prizewinner of the Swiss Television Competition. This was followed by a lively artistic activity as an interpreter with concerts in Europe and the USA, with radio recordings and recordings, including for the Japanese company DENON. From 1990 to 2006, Heinz Balli worked as organist at the Bern Cathedral. At the same time, he was a professor at the Bern University of the Arts, head of an organ class and lecturer in didactics and literary studies. As a freelance musician, Heinz Balli today maintains a rich concert activity at home and abroad. In addition, he works as a jury member and expert in election committees and diploma examinations at Swiss art academies.
