Starring Ayako Takaishi as a woman calling herself Princess Oryu, but is undercover inside a women's prison hearing out stories of the women and exacting revenge. So what seems like a period women's prison movie set in Japan, but does have some inventive action scenes. Very rare entry in this V-Cinema period in the 90s. Interestingly apparently this was based on historical events. From Wiki: "Onnaro Hisho" ( The Secret Story of the Woman Prison ) is a historical novel by Futaro Yamada . It was serialized in the magazine " Weekly Jitsuwa Tokuho " ( Futabasha ) from the inaugural issue on April 15 , 1959 to the December 10 issue of the same year. A V-cinema , TV drama, and manga have also been produced based on this work . The daughter of Ooka Echizen no Kami disguises herself and infiltrates the women's prison to uncover the truth behind six mysterious incidents and uncover a conspiracy behind seemingly unrelated incidents. A newcomer calling herself "Oryu, the Bushu Homeless Man" is imprisoned in the women's prison in Kodenmacho for plotting to assassinate the Shogun . Oryu negotiates with the elderly woman who is in charge of the women's prison, and gets her to change the "etiquette" within the prison. Oryu comes into contact with six female prisoners, Otama, Oji, Oseki, Ohan, Osen, and Oha, who have been sentenced to death for murder, and clears their names of false charges. Six murder cases which at first glance appear unrelated eventually lead to the Tenichibo Incident which would shake the nation.
