You will receive these 1972 NFL Stamps, FAST! This is for a complete sheet of 1972 Sunoco (& DX) NFL Action stamps. This sheet has the rare Joe Namath! This sheet still has all of the pieces attached, as you can see in the scan. The NAMATH stamp is one of the hardest stamps to acquire in MINT condition, because it is on the corner of the sheet. This makes it subject to extra damage risk than other stamps. I have added extra photos, so that you can see that the scan was NOT hiding any defects. I opened this sheet in 2013 & it has been stored inside of a protective plastic bin. As a 10 year old kid, 1972 was an awesome year in the NFL! I rememberd the famous play from the Super Bowl (Jan, 1972), where Bob Lilly sacked Bob Griese for a devastating loss as Dallas cruised to victory! Then (in Sept, '72) when the season began, I got my NFL Action album! This made the whole season seem magical, to me. I watched both an early game & a late game each Sunday & it really helped me learn about the whole NFL. There was something special about seeing guys make plays after you had only seen there name in the book (or their photo on a stamp) that really made a connection for me. I was hooked! As the '72 season progressed, teams lost their unbeaten streaks, one-by-one, leaving only the Dolphins without a loss. How long could they continue their perfect run? As the season continued, it grew into a national obsession as they kept finding ways to win. In the last half of the season, it seemed as if the Dolphins were on national TV every week (which they were, because NBC stations had a ratings juggernaut on their hands) with their undefeated record on the line. It was a terrific event as each week was filled with the dramatic hook: "can the Dolphins stay undefeated?" Well, they did it! They beat the Washington Redskins in the Super Bowl to complete their perfect season & kids, like me, had their stamp book in hand at the end. When the '72 playoffs began, I watched EVERY game. We all got to see the "immaculate reception" by Franco Harris, as the Steelers came from behind to beat the Oakland Raiders on the final play of the game (foreshadowing the upcoming Pittsburgh Steelers dynasty of the 70's) at the old Three Rivers stadium! Of course, these were the days before the internet or ESPN & that play was still getting replayed on the NFL TV broadcasts like a viral video of today! Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins kept grinding down opponent-after-opponent on their way to becoming an all-time NFL legend! My 1972 NFL album was like a sacred relic to me (it was how I learned ALL 6 of the NFL divisions) as I filled in every slot with my daily trip to the local SUNOCO station. My dad bought his gasoline there & the guys grew to know me, which is why they would give me a pack when I showed up, even though I wasn't actually a paying customer.
