Description: For sale is an early jet age promotional brochure for the Hawaii offices of Japan Air Lines . The double gate brochure features the schedule of 17 weekly jet-service flights -- two daily and and one additional flight on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday -- from Honolulu to Tokyo. Internal text promotes pampered service of delightful Kimono-clad hostess. Three of the interior panels contains a global JAL Route Map with offering flights to the US (San Fransisco & Los Angeles via Honolulu), 50 daily flights within Japan; and 17 weekly flights between Tokyo and Hong Kong. An interior panel is dedicated to the gracious hospitality of JAL, The back encourages you to contact your travel agent above the addresses of JAL offices in Honolulu and Waikiki. This piece is from an estate and was stored with other memorabilia of a Hawaii trip in the 1960s. JAL service to Tokyo from San Fransisco or Los Angeles via Honolulu was introduced in 1960 with its first DC-8. This brochure does not yet include flights to Seattle, another destination added of the airline's expansion in the early 1960s. The brochure is in very good condition and appears to have been well stored with crisp edges and corners. The paper is off white suggesting age-related discoloring. There is very light storage wear on the two external panels. There is some bleed through on the reverse side of the four color photographs (photograph 12). LI-1618. Printed in Japan.
