SIGNED IN THE SCULPTURE: "BARYE". Purchased new in the 1970s and stored in our warehouse since, this is still in the same virtually mint condition as the day we bought it. Barye, a Romantic French sculptor, was THE preeminent Animalier sculptor of the 1800s, and his bronze originals still go for a fortune. This is a beautifully done recast, by Excalibur Sculpture Factory in NYC in 1977, with a particularly wonderful and delicate patina, of one of his most famous bronzes-- the figure of the jaguar is still pure Barye!A copy of their receipt can be provided, if requested. In addition, we carry several other sculptures by Antoine Louis Barye and others.We also carry several limited edition sculptures from the Louis Paul Jonas Studio, and have their magnificent 1/10 scale Allosaurus and a life-sized 9ft Deinonychus !Louis Paul Jonas was a master sculptor, taxidermist and exhibit designer and was the first to work with leading paleontologists to sculpt anatomically correct, incredibly life-like figures, in very dynamic poses. The smaller ones is cast in resin, and the larger one in fiberglass. Both limited to very small production runs.
