Save for the occasional minor smudge, pages are quite clean with no writing or stains. Front hinge shows a slight tear to paper, but binding fabric is undamaged and binding remains sound throughout. Dust jacket in fair condition, showing a heavy tan with visible repairs to extremities and missing part of spine. Nevertheless, jacket remains unclipped and is now housed in an archival sleeve. Scarce limited edition of Gide's biography, #1297/1500, and a handsome copy overall.
