Description: This is an IBM EduQuest 45, Type 9614 that is in PARTIALLY WORKING condition. (consider it parts/repair) This unit is equipped with a PC Enterprises upgrade motherboard that used to be available for these units circa 1997. I bought this unit with the intention of fully restoring this upgrade and getting this unit fully working again. When I bought the unit, part of the motherboard had corrosion on it, and as a result, had traces that had rotted away. Also, the VGA port header was fully corroded and I replaced that successfully. However. There is still a lot of hard work that will need to be done to get this system board fully working again. I have made some trace repairs/bypasses with success. The battery was corroded, so the only option I had was to put a button-cell battery pack on, because the traces were entirely too corroded to use a regular 3.6v battery (that is what caused it). Also, the keyboard port acts like something is causing repeating characters, causing the keyboard to be unusable. The CD-ROM drive, like Toshibas of that vintage, is non-functional. I cannot test the floppy drive. This item comes with a SoundBlaster card and a 3Com ethernet card. The case of this unit is in fantastic condition for its age with very little yellowing. Please see the pictures so that you know what you are getting into, as I am not accepting any returns of this item. EduQuests are very very hard to come by now. This is a very rare unicorn of a unit! The company who made the motherboard upgrade does not even have schematics anymore of their system board (I called the number on there, it's still the same company!) This item is sold AS-IS. Buyer responsible for shipping costs. This will be double-packed with packing peanuts as it was shipped to me. I will include a power cord.
