Description: H&R Grips Factory Walnut 1 Piece models 649 650 949 950 660 676 687 976 No Screw GRHRGS Dark Stained otherwise Unfinished Harrington & Richardson 1990s Production OUR #GRHRGS Item Description Here are old stock Grips to fit H&R Forty Niner series revolvers that were manufactured from 1960 until 1986. That includes numbered models 649, 650, 660, 666, 676, 686, 949, 950, and 976. Named models are Convertible, Gunfighter, Forty Niner, and the First and Second models variants of these revolvers. Manufacturer was Harrington & Richardson of Gardner and Worcester, Massachusetts and its subcontractors. We estimate these grips were manufactured in the mid 1980s and never made it into the production room by the time the original H&R folded and the Forty Niner series discontinued in 1986. Construction is one piece milled American Walnut. Screws and escutcheons are NOT included, and we do not have any available at this time. These grips came to us unfinished and unattractively light complexioned. We stained them dark, to replicate the original grips as they shipped 40 years ago. The revolver should have a straight back strap to its grip frame, not a curved one, see the photo that shows the perfectly straight backstrap contact area inside these grips. The butt area recess measures exactly 1 3/4 inches, so these will only fit a revolver whose grip frame butt measures 1 3/4 inches. Top of the back strap, the center of where it will fit, measures 1 1/4 inches from that point on the walnut to the upper shoulders of the grip. The flat backstrap recess inside the grip measures 3 1/4 inches on the center, from the rounded backstap area where the grip stops at its top center, to the back edge of its butt area that mates with the butt of the revolver’s grip frame. Interior diameter is .570 to .575 inches, so the grip frame of the revolver should be no thicker than that. These grips did not come with grip screws, but grips screws are readily available throughout the country at around $5.00 for a pair. Grip screw holes have 1/4 inch counterbore recess from their 1 5/16, or 1.330 thickness at the grip screw, so screws should have about a 1/4 to 3/8 inch shank. Even though the H&Rs are discontinued, they were so well made that most of them will outlive not only their original grips, but also their currently living owners. Each grip comes in a labeled repackage bag. Buy 3 Ships Free: Combine any 3 of our items, and get free shipping. Excludes long gun barrels and gun cases.
