Description: Louis L'Amour wrote 4 Hopalong Cassidy books. He would never admit to writing them, and only agreed to write them as he was really hurting for the money. However, after receiving the advance payment, and writing one of the books, Bill Boyd threw a fit because they were written along the same line as the original Hopalong Cassidy books that Clarence Mulford had written. Louis was forced to re-write the books along the goody two-shoes image that Bill Boyd had made popular in the movies and on television. Louis fulfilled his contract, and forever thereafter denied having written them. It wasn't until after his death that the books were admitted (by his family) to have been written by him. I have recently moved and must downsize my collection. My loss is your gain! Thank you for looking.
