A Depository employee, Lee Harvey Oswald, was arrested for the murder of a Dallas police officer within 80 minutes of the assassination and later charged with the assassination of the president. The empty sixth floor of the former Texas School Book Depository building as it appeared in the 1980s, before the museum opened. Empty Sixth Floor Within hours the building was the focus of shock, grief and outrage.
