Description: 5.5X4 Vintage photograph signed by Hermann Scherchen in 1961 in fountain pen ink. In very good condition. (1891-1966) Hermann Scherchen was a German conductor, who was the principal conductor of the city orchestra of Winterthur from 1922 to 1950. He promoted contemporary music, beginning with Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire, followed by works by Richard Strauss, Anton Webern, Alban Berg, Edgard Varèse, and later Iannis Xenakis, Luigi Nono, and Leon Schidlowsky. He usually conducted without using a baton. This lot came from the Jim Wiggins collection we purchased in July 2022. Jim Wiggins accumulated the most unique and valuable autograph collection over a period of 70-plus years. He obtained his collection either in person or by writing to persons of fame and notoriety. Comes with a full Letter of Authenticity from Todd Mueller Authentics.
