HANDMADE: Steampunk Wine Rack, by Brandon, Heavy Industrial Elements, BRAND NEW.

Description: This is a one and only original creation. There is not another like it. Over the past five years I have made quite a number of items that fall into the Steampunk category. Welding for me is what pottery is to many people. Although I have welded professionally, years ago, I don't currently weld for a living. I do it because of its free expression and pure enjoyment. Most of my builds have been lamps made entirely from industrial recycled items. That holds true for this Steampunk wine rack as well. The base is made from 1/4 inch plate steel. The vertical risers on the left and right are 1 inch diameter heavy tube steel. The bearings on the top are just that, Huge Bearings. I don't know what kind of machine they came from. They are big enough to have come from a locomotive. They do set off this piece quite well, I believe. The wire racks were made from nearly 1/4 inch steel rod, bent in the shape you see. It is heavy, weighing in at: just under 21.4 pounds (by itself). Finishing: After the piece was constructed, I sanded down much of it and sprayed portions with a very light rust colored paint. I sanded most of that off as well. I then applied vinegar to control the color of the rust I was looking for (It only takes an hour or so for the rust to reveal itself). I then polished the rust with a buffing pad. Then I sprayed several coats of clear lacquer to protect and preserve the look you see in the photos. This wine rack has space for 12 bottles. This wine rack is not for everyone. For someone it will be perfect. It is unusual and will draw the eye towards it. Most people will think, "That is so darn cool," or something like that. It will fit perfectly in someone's home, and it will be an expression of personality. For sure, it will never wear out... It is a conversation piece that will garner much conversation. In the right setting it will bring a bit of of, "Industrial," elegance. SHIPPING: I am shipping throughout the lower 48 states.
