Description: For your consideration is a three gallon salt glaze crock. It has the same wreath design as is on Stoffer crocks. It was pointed out to me that Braun of Buffalo used the same wreath design. I've heard/read dozens of times, about a potter quitting/getting fired at a pottery/stoneware co. and taking a stencil/hand drawn art idea, to the new employer. I included the picture of the Stoffer, so people could compare the wreath design, handles and the rim. Almost all manufacturers switched from salt glaze to either zinc or Bristol glaze during the middle or late 1890s. This stoneware item is approximately 10 1/4 inches tall and the bottom has a diameter of approximately 10 1/4 inches. This crock is an old item, that was used. It is badly stained and needs to be properly cleaned. Also, the handles and rim have chips. Very close to the front of the right handle, is a hairline that starts at the rim and goes downward for approximately 2 1/2 inches. The interior's Albany slip glaze has flaked off in several places, however the remaining Albany slip glaze, is very well attached to the crock's form. The design, is not centered. This crock has other manufacturing imperfections. Please, carefully examine the pictures, as the pictures are part of the description.Whenever it is practical, I will combine shipping. Local pickup is encouraged and is free. For bookkeeping purposes, this is lot DGW-1337.
