Description: We are selling hand-selected Balsam Fir tipi poles that we carefully harvest here in Northern Wisconsin. They come peeled and dried. The bases average 4" and vary in length from 10' to 35' (longer are available upon request). In the past we hand peeled our poles, using a draw knife. However, because of the volume that we must now produce, we have been forced into mechanizing our operation are now using a peeling machine that produces a finish on the poles that we feel is far superior to the draw knife look. The knots are taken off with a sideways shaving action that shaves the knots instead of pulling and gouging it out like a draw shave has been known to do. A complete set of tipi poles averages 18 to 20 poles. The two smoke flap poles will be slightly smaller in diameter that the others. Finished poles are available upon request for an additional price. This includes sanding the entire pole, pointing the butts like a pencil and applying two coats of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits. We are finding that we can get the poles to you in the same condition in which they left our yard and often in less time. That being said, we do need to gather as many customers in a general direction to make our deliveries as efficient as possible. We simply cannot deliver one or two sets hundreds of miles and remain cost-effective. So, at times a little patience is needed for us to accumulate other orders before setting sail. We are able to easily ship poles up to 30' long. Anything longer than that needs to be hauled on our longer trailer. We have hauled poles up to 45 ft. long but they are extremely difficult to handle and thus more costly. When quantities of 100 poles or more are ordered, we offer a multiple order discount on shipping charges.
