Description: For sale is an antique likely 19th century cast iron cauldron. It is in good condition with no rust holes and the bail "ears" are solid. I believe this one to have had a side gate mark and probably ground off. There is evidence of grinding and smoothing throughout, no cracks. This pot has a very old and primitive feel to it as it is exceptionally heavy and thick. About 8" diameter 7" tall . Great original blackened patina! Age appropriate surface wears and imperfections are present. It sits nice and stable. No wobble. Overall, this is a classical example that showcases the early American iron foundry’s craftsmanship. A great display item by itself for collectors of antique cast iron /primitive Kitchen and hearth tools. Feel free to check out my other antique and collectible listings (many more fireplace hearth items). I gladly combine shipping whenever practical.
