Description: Gentlemans, vintage stainless steel, automatic, water resistant, black dial wristwatch with mid 20th century, expandable, Speidel steel bracelet, Model 47BF661, S/N 61700675, made by Girard Perregaux, Switzerland circa late 1950-1954. Description Case: 34 mm diameter, round, polished and brushed stainless steel, watch case with polished canted bezel, lapidated lugs, fluted winding crown, screwed down back cover. The inside of the cover has the trademark of Girard-Perregaux, the case number 61700675 (only semi-legible) and stainless steel. Dial: Black dial with applied silvered steel boat shaped baton hours, steel "Alpha" hands and center seconds pointer with the dial marked 'Girard Perregaux Gyromatic'. Movement: A self-winding G-P calibre 47BF661, based on the ETA 1256, this a Swiss made automatic movement with 17 jewels, 11.5''', Incabloc shock proofing, vibrating at a frequency of 18000 A/hour with a power reserve of 40 hours, and a rocker type automatic movement signed by Girard-Perregaux, and numbered 61700675. Condition: In very fine condition with a minimum of surface wear for its age. Dial is very good with scattered light punctate marks. The movement is fully functional. One of the earliest, perhaps the first, of the Gyromatic movements. Recently appraised for insurance. Insured value -- $800
