Serial number in the 820,000 range, made in 1956. Manufactured in Germany. As a product of Leica's golden age, the IIIg was designed and manufactured with no expense spared, offering a level of quality that excites just by holding and looking at it. It’s a camera that allows you to experience the physical quality that is increasingly rare in today’s industrial products. Incorporating technology from the earlier-released Leica M3, it is the only Barnack Leica with a bright-line frame for 50mm and 90mm lenses, complete with parallax correction. The viewfinder is excellent, making it the most user-friendly of all the Barnack models. There is a small chip on the upper part of the finder eyepiece, a tiny scratch on the edge of the top cover near the wind knob, and a minor ding on the edge of the bottom cover near the tripod mount. Additionally, there are some very light scuffs on the accessory shoe, speed dial, and bottom cover, but overall, it has a clean appearance. The strap lugs appear to have been touched up with silver paint, likely from previous maintenance. The vulcanite covering is all original, providing a pleasantly smooth grip. The camera was fully overhauled in August 2024. After thorough inspection and maintenance, it now functions smoothly with a refined operational feel. The viewfinder has been cleaned, resulting in a clear view. This IIIg is well-maintained and exudes a sense of cleanliness, making it a pleasure to use. Cosmetic: 93%, B 良上品, as pictures.
