The brass oil burner is embossed with the name ‘EAGLE’ on the top side with the turn knob that reads ‘P & A MFG. CO. / WATERBURY, CONN. / MADE IN U.S.A.’ There was no wick in the burner when we acquired the oil lamp. The pink opaline glass font originally had a stenciled pattern motif going around it, but over years of use, it has mostly worn off leaving only traces of the motif that can only be seen when light hits the surface at the right angle. The gilded full figure of a young girl is carrying a small bouquet of flowers in her left hand while her right arm appears raised above her head. She appears fully and very finely dressed with shoes, jacket and an outfit from the period. The black marble base has a bronze ring around the ground which the girl stands on. The clear glass chimney sits firmly in place above the burner, being held in place by the four metal prongs. Overall, the oil lamp is in excellent condition with normal wear as one would expect from previous use. We are not collectors of antique oil lamps. Some parts of this oil lamp may have been altered over time. This item came from a local estate sale which featured Victorian pieces. The figural stem oil lamp measures approximate 13-1/2" from the top of the burner to the bottom of the marble base. The glass chimney measures approximately 12" in height. The black marble base measures approximately 4-1/2" x 4-1/2" x 1”. The young girl figure stands approximately 5-1/4”. The pink opaline glass font measures approximately 4” across in diameter and 3” high (not including portions that are inside the metal mounts on top and bottom). The It weighs approximately 4 lbs, 2 ounces. All measurements are approximate, but close. Condition: We carefully examined this item. Overall, the oil lamp is in excellent antique condition. As mentioned in the description, the decorations around the pink opaline glass font have worn almost completely off. You can still see traces of it when light hits it in a certain angle, but otherwise, not. The gold gilding on the young girl appears to be in very good condition with only tiny bits of wear from handling over the years.
