It will come with a grommet for being installed in a bucket style fermenter. These are a must have for closed fermentation. Open fermentation can be done but is also much more problematic. This will keep your fermenter sealed and allow the carbon dioxide to escape. The water chamber on these should be filled 1/2 way full. Overfilling them can result in spilling water and making an unnecessary mess. If the water level gets low just maintain by adding more water as needed.
