Description: Up for bid is a wonderful limited edition offset lithograph print by the acclaimed American artist FAITH RINGGOLD. This print was created in 1992 and published by Printed Matter, NYC as part of a series of works that were based on the concept of a common "ex libris" book plate. Other participating artists included Larry Clark, Francesco Clemente, Eric Fischl, Jenny Holzer, Claes Oldenburg, Faith Ringgold, and Nancy Spero. The Faith Ringgold contribution is titled Black Matters, and inspired by the title of the first of three essays in Toni Morrison’s Playing in the Dark: Whiteness and the Literary Imagination (1992). Printed by Derriere L'Etoile Studios (NYC), on a sheet of acid free woven paper. The print is in mint condition, and measures 5" x 3". The edition size was 100 archival boxes, each containing 250 bookplate prints (249 unsigned copies and an identical signed and numbered copy). This auction is for one single unsigned copy.
