Description: Up for sale is this Edo Period saya/scabbard. It is as found and is as made. A quality scabbard for a samurai katana blade. Wooden saya is 28 inches long and covered in raw black lacquer. It features (9) birds in flight in glossy silhouette. Opening at mouth of scabbard measures 1-1/4"long from top to bottom. Width at back of blade or mune is 7/16". Width at edge is 3/16". Maximum curvature is 1-1/8". There is a 4" split near the bottom where the 2 halves meet. Also has minor bruising and scratches. Please see pics. Complete with vintage mounts in iron and are matching! This is a rare offering to the samurai sword collector. A cleaning cloth was run down the inside and it is fairly clean.
