Description: A very intriguing and rare double sided lithograph! On one side is the original Edna Hibel artists proof for her famous print “David, Bathsheba and Solomon”. The lithograph boasts her signature in pencil as well as the words artists proof in pencil. What makes this even more interesting is that on the verso there is an original Erling Enger lithograph depicting a landscape and a brown skin man walking with an elephant down a dirt road. It is unsigned but it is an original litho as opposed to being printed. The Erling Enger has a red x drawn across it and on the margin has the title of the Hibel proof with a pencil price of $3200. Other examples of the Erling litho have sold around $500. The Hibel litho is inGood overall condition with minimal signs of wear and some soiling to the margins. No holes, rips or tears. The litho remains clean with bold colors and prominent gold leaf detail. The Enger is clean but does have a red x through it. Regardless two amazing pieces of art history on one sheet! Hibel plate block measures 19” x 16” and 29 7/8” x 22 1/8” with margins. Erling print block on verso measures 25” x 18”. Erling Enger (17 May 1899 – 12 February 1990) was a Norwegian painter. He was born in Fåberg. Among his paintings at the National Gallery of Norway are Vekstring svinger lua from 1940, Gårdsgutten from 1943, and Familien from 1948. He has been portrayed with busts by Dyre Vaa and by Ragnhild Butenschøn.[1][2] His daughter Babben Enger-Damon became an Olympic champion in cross-country skiing.[3] Edna Hibel Plotkin (January 13, 1917 – December 5, 2014) was an American artist. She painted for most of her life. Her work was once held at the Hibel Museum of Art; some of it now resides at Beloit College in Wisconsin. This will ship flat as opposed to rolled.
