E. grusonii is endemic to Mexico, where it occurs in Rio Moctezuma Valley, Queretaro.is a solitary, fast growing, species grows on rocky outcrops, in grasslands or pampas, on plains and walls. Stem is spherical more or less flattened, bright green, almost completely concealed by dense yellow spines, up to 4 inch long. The crown of the plant is usually set at an angle to prevent water-sitting. Flowers are yellow.Plant ships bare root. USA and her territories ONLY.
