Description: This vintage sextant, made by C. Plath in Hamburg, Germany, is a true gem for collectors and enthusiasts of maritime navigational instruments. I received the sextant from a friend 20 years ago. Although I don't know how it works, I believe it is complete, and in good working order. It also comes with it's original case. Although I could not precisely date the piece, the Serial number 5522 (see pics) puts it as early 20th century. The oldest dated one I was able to find online was made in 1940 and had a serial number of 14427. This sextant is clearly a precision piece of craftsmanship. There is some wear and tarnish on the eye pieces and I do not have a key for the lock.
