Description: Colorado Blue Spruce Picea pungens The true Blue Spruce tree, these make an attractive native bonsai or a 50 foot landscape tree. Native to central Rocky Mountains from southern Montana & eastern Idaho south to New Mexico. Slow growing narrow conical conifer that as it ages lower branches tend to droop. Small stiff silvery blue needles. 1-3 inch copper brown cones. Dark brown grooved scales bark. Mature to 30-60 feet and 10-20 feet spread. Allow 12-24 feet between trees. Does best in cooler climate and is not tolerate heat & humanity Moist, well draining soil with high organic matter. Young trees should be kept consistently moist and not allowed to dry out. As the tree matures they become more drought tolerate. Minimal 2 hours of direct sun light a day USDA Hardiness Zones 2a, 2b, 3a, 3b, 4a, 4b, 5a, 5b, 6a, 6b, 7a and 7b
