Description: Union U.S. Civil War belt plate, maritime recovery 5 decades ago from a wrecked supply vessel 22 miles off the South Carolina coast. Because the identity of the shipwreck has never been established dive shops in the area refer to it as The Governor. This is the lead filler of the original belt plate. The thin outer brass covering and a little of the brass remains on this relic. Formerly displayed in the S.C. Civil War Museum. Item ascension number from museum on reverse of plate. No returns.
