Description: CATRINA Groom Catrin Huichol Beaded Figurine Day of the Dead Mexican Folk Art Huichol Mexican Indian folk art is truly unique and all handmade by the indigenous Indian people of the Sierra Madre mountains in Jalisco, Mexico. Absolutely gorgeous, authentic, elegant metallic gold, metallic silver, red and black theme glass beaded clay, Day of the Dead Catrina (Catrin) Groom figurine. Handmade by the talented Mexican Huichol Indian artist, Isaias Bautista Carrillo, Turatemai, in Mexico. Isaias' designs have that haute couture elegant style. Using the traditional Huichol techniques of pressing Campeche wax onto this sculpture and adding, one-by-one, glass beads this Day of the Dead Calavera Catrin depicts the offering message to the Huichol Gods. This figurine is signed by the artist, Isaias Bautista Carrillo. Details:Dressed in a handsome formal tuxedo, with gold and silver metallic color beaded accents, this Catrin portrays a stately pose. His sophisticated, 3D sculpted tuxedo jacket with 3D red beaded bow tie and 3D white, red and silver metallic boutonniere has important Huichol symbols protecting him with blessings on his wedding day. The most important symbol on his back is the eagle (God for all living things) and the Salamander (God of rain for future crops). The salamander also has a God's Eye in the middle for protection of the children. His dapper looking top hat has a red, gold and silver beaded Peyote flower on top and we love how Isasis used platinum grey pearl beads around his hairline. His head is detachable and can swivel from side to side for more handsome poses. One of the most unique details is how Isaias hand painted his face with the typical Day of the Dead celebration details. His face is painted ivory color with a pale gold wash. The red heart on his forehead indicates true love and his eyes are outlined with red and green petals. His goatee is 3D sculpted and Isasis used a single bristle from a paint brush to paint around his teeth. The symbols used on his tuxedo and top hat make him seem as if he is preparing for his special day in a most elegant way. So handsome!
