Description: This is a simplistic/caricature drawing of Arturo Peralta-Ramos on a cloth napkin (21” x 21”). It was done at the Algonquin Hotel in New York City in 1981 by famed lawyer/ artist/ author Louis Nizer. For a number of years Nizer was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the highest paid lawyer in the world. Arturo was an entrepreneur who had many diverse business interest. He was also a patriot and acted as an advisor to Lyndon Johnson along with numerous other senators and congressmen. His mother was Millicent Rogers a socialite, fashion icon, and art collector. She was also the granddaughter of Standard Oil tycoon Henry Huttleston Rogers was heiress to his wealth. She was romantically linked to Clark Cable, Ian Fleming, The Prince of Wales among others. The napkin also contains the signatures Ben Bodne the president and owner of the Algonquin as well as Leonard Baum who I am assuming was the mathematician and co-creator of the Baum-Welch algorithm.I can’t make out the other signature. Also included with the napkin is what appears to be a luggage tag with Arturo’s name and address. The napkin has stains from age as seen in our photos. Arturo’s daughter lived in Aiken, SC at the time of his death and much of his estate was liquidated here in Columbia SC
