Description: Sixth-plate daguerreotype of a miner, in full case. Although not identified on this image, I believe he was Thomas Warren Young (born 1829), based on other images picked up in the same lot as this dag (read below). This daguerreotype came with several identified images of a woman and little girl, plus two of the same little boy. The woman and girl were identified as Rebecca Thompson Young and Emma Young, born 1860, which fits as being Thomas Warren Young's family. An 1860 census shows Thomas working as a miner in Township 2, Tuolumne, California, living with a Rebecca and 1-year-old Frank.. Emma was born in late-1860, so she was not on the census. I believe Thomas came to California around 1852, possibly even earlier, because his older brother Joseph, also a miner, died in California in 1852.Unsealed with some tarnished areas and under magnification, several specks of green corrosion spots are available, as well a a few tiny mat abrasions. Case covers are separated.Boxed & signed Priority Mail. gold rush 1840s occupational fashion handsome gay man
