Description: This is a really pretty fine bone china teacup and saucer made by Aynsley of England. The cup and saucer have slightly scalloped edges trimmed in shiny gold and are decorated with blue and pink bouquets of flowers. There are winding swirls impressed in the bone china of the cup and saucer. The cup is about 3 & 1/4 inches in diameter, stands 2 & 3/4 inches tall, on a small foot, and holds 3/4 cup. The saucer is 5 & 5/8 inches in diameter. The green backstamp of the crown, a banner with AYNSLEY inside it, and the words ENGLAND and BONE CHINA under the banner, was used in 1934 according to antiquers.com. The year, EST 1775 was added above the banner to the backstamp in 1939. So this set, 90 years old, is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. When I looked with a super bright light I could see very fine crazing under the glaze, but the glaze is smooth to the touch. Also in some places there is a slight smudging of the gold or some discoloration into the top edges of the cup and a dot or two in the glaze on the inside that can be seen in the pictures. There is also some rub wear to the gold on the edges, especially in the saucer. This is one of those cups and saucers, that would be so pretty to display in between enjoying a cup of coffee or tea in it! Please zoom in on the pictures and see the 360 degree video for a closer look. I pack with lots of bubble wrap for safe shipping and ship out quickly, sometimes same day, always by next business day, and on Saturdays if I can make it to the post office before they close at noon. Any questions, please ask, and thanks for looking! Some more background on Aynsley: Aynsley China Ltd. was an English manufacturer of bone china items. It was founded in 1775 by John Aynsley in Longton, Staffordshire. Aynsley is known for high-quality bone china and lovely floral and bird designs. The company's products were popular with royalty and aristocracy around the world. Queen Elizabeth II granted Aynsley a royal warrant in 1955. By May of 1997, Aynsley China was acquired by The Belleek Pottery Group in Ireland. The company closed its Stoke-on-Trent factory in September 2014, but Aynsley items are still made by a number of companies around the world.
