Description: 16-Pc Staffordshire Miniature Childs Tea Set Red ‘APPLE’ Blossom c 1884 - 1890Reference: Lorraine Punchard, ‘Playtime Pottery & Porcelain From the United Kingdom and the United States,’ p 80. This is a child’s miniature Tea Set transfer printed in an allover Red sheet pattern on a creamy white background, named ‘APPLE’ Blossom. Although this Tea Set is unmarked, the bulbous shapes of the pieces are distinct and recognized as being made by the British Anchor Pottery Company, Anchor Road, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, England, c 1884 – 1890. This Tea Set has great red saturated color and is comprised of:(1) Teapot with Lid: 7.25” W x 4.5” D x 4.5” H There is a small chip to the end of the bottom of the spout, anda chip to the Lid.(1) Sugar with Lid: 4.5” W x 4.25” D x 4” HThere is a chip to the inside of the Lid that does not show when in place.(1) Creamer: 3.5” W x 2.75” D x 3” H(1) Waste or Slop Bowl: 4.25” W x 2.5” H There is a small black ink mark to the inside.(4) Plates: 5” D x .75” H(4) Cups: 3.25” W x 2.5” D x 2” H One cup has some excess red ink to the inside top edge.(4) Saucers: 4.25” D x .875” H Please ignore the white glare marks in the photos. This child’s Tea Set is in excellent condition and great color, with the exceptions noted above. There may be occasional transfer slips and minor typical firing imperfections that sporadically may appear consistent with production from this period of time, but nothing that diminishes the display value.
