Description: Childs Miniature Staffordshire Red ‘CHANG’ Teapot EDGE MALKIN c 1880 Reference: Lorraine Punchard, ‘Playtime Pottery & Porcelain From the United Kingdom & the United States,’ p 96, middle. This miniature child’s Teapot is decorated in a red transfer pattern known as ‘CHANG.’ Shown are two Oriental figures tending a garden on a terrace; this pattern also has an interesting correlating border. The design of the shape to this Teapot is round but neat, and the steamhole is in the center of the Lid similar to early Wedgwood Teapots. Made by Edge Malkin, Staffordshire, England, the Teapot is marked on the bottom with their mark and the pattern name, c 1880. (1) Teapot with Lid: 5.25” W x 3.25” D x 3.75” H Please pardon the white light glare marks in the photos. This child’s Red ‘CHANG’ Teapot was played with and cherished by a child and is in excellent condition. There is a glazed over small chip to the underside of the spout, minor transfer skips, light crazing, and imperfections typical of pieces manufactured at this period of time may appear sporadically, but nothing that diminishes the display value.
