Description: Bausch & Lomb Tessar IC 139mm F4.5 mounted in Wollensak Betax No. 3 Shutter In outstanding condition, especially considering its age. Tessars are a proven design that deliver sharp results and beautiful background blur. F4.5 is relatively fast for a 4x5 lens as well! I’ve included a screenshot of a historical Catalog with B&L’s description of the Tessar IC. Glass is free of fungus, haze, separation, and major defects. Just a little dust which is typical for a lens this age. I’ve included pictures to illustrate. The betax No. 3 shutter it is mounted in is also working great! Speeds haven’t been measured but seem relatively accurate to my ear. T and B work fine. I love Betax shutters. Simple and reliable single action shutter, with lots of aperture blades for clean round bokeh at all stops. This lens should illuminate 4x5 at infinity, but don’t expect much movements. The mounting flange it originally came with was marked 1946, but it was very unfortunately lost by USPS when I shipped it for mounting. UPSETTING.
