For centuries, the Romani people lived a nomadic lifestyle, traveling from place to place. This allowed them to pursue seasonal work opportunities, like seasonal farm labor or tinkering. They often traveled in extended family groups or bands. Family is central to Romany culture. Extended families live, work, and travel together, forming a strong support system. Traditional Romani occupations often involved working with their hands or using their creativityand include blacksmithing, metalworking, horse trading, music, entertainment, fortune telling, basket weaving and other crafts. The Romany lifestyle is one of resilience, cultural pride, and adaptation. While many Romani people have adopted a more settled way of life, their traditions and heritage continue to be a vital part of their identity.
