Description: Rare Antique Late 18th Century Engraving by William Hogarth Printed in 1822 The Politician Depicts a politician reading a newspaper oblivious to the fact that his candle is burning his hat. This image bears the legend that it was engraved by J.K. Sherwin and authorized for publication by Jane Hogarth after the artist's death. Sheet Size: 25" x 19" Image Size: 14" x 10 1/2" These pages were removed from an original 1822 publication. I have the Title Page shown above, framed and matted which will be available later. A copy of this image will be included with each sale. Well Preserved Condition Examine the photo of the image carefully for the condition of each print. Each plate is between a backboard and fitted mat with a plastic protector. The mats are not sealed. This image is on a full size 25" x 19" paper sheet. These prints are referred to as the Heath version or the Baldwin, Cradock & Joy version, This volume was the last produced from the original plates engraved by the artist in the 18th Century.
