Description: After more than 60 years of collecting coins, it is time to move my collection along to new (and other old) collectors. The early Greek coinage gave us some classic designs which have been used repeatedly through the ages across the world on coinage. Here is a really nice 16mm bronze minted and issued between 200-27 BC by the then independent city state of Pergamon in Mysia which is located in present day Turkey. The obverse has a well detailed classic head of Athena right wearing a Corinthian helmet decorated with star. The reverse has the legend AΘHNAΣ NIKHΦOΡOY, above and beneath an owl standing facing on palm branch with its wings spread. There is a K-A in field on either side of owl. The coin has a beautiful dark green patina which has toned evenly on the obverse. The reverse has similar toning but shows some brown surface contamination that could be removed by a professional (as I do not clean my coins). This design shows up in reference books under SNG COP 392 and SNG Leipzig 1102-1103. As everything needs to find a new home, here at a good price and FREE SHIPPING to within the US. All my coins are normally listed at the lowest price you will find for each coin in the condition as I am at an age I need to find good homes for each so they do not wind up in my "estate" sale!
