Description: Artesania Latina Kit 19004 1/25 HMS Bounty's Jolly Boat Model A jolly boat was a type of ship's boat in use during the 18th and 19th centuries. They were mainly used to ferry personnel to and from the ship, or for other general purpose work. The Artesania Latina Bounty's Jolly Boat wooden boat model is an accurate reproduction of the real jolly boat. In April 1789 the HMS Bounty left Tahiti and while it crossed the Endeavour Straits, some of the crew, led by Fletcher Christian, staged a mutiny. The mutineers forced Lt. Bligh, the ship's captain, and 18 of his loyal crew into the ship's jolly boat and set them adrift. Forty days and 3,600 miles later, by using the sail and four men rowing at a time, they reached the safety of Timor Island. This is a great kit for beginners. It includes step-by-step full color instructions, plans and simplified plank-on-frame construction. All wooden parts, including individual hull strakes are pre-cut. Hardwood and brass fittings, pre-sewn sails, rigging line and display cradle are all included. The jolly boat is an impressive model on its own, and a worthy companion piece to the HMS Bounty model.
