Description: Antique transferware ceramic platter made by WH Grindley & Co of England. The printed mark on the back specifically dates this piece to the period 1891-1914. The pattern is called "Eileen" and features a slate blue colored floral design on a white ground. The edges are scalloped and there is a delicate molded design all around the flange. This platter is quite large and heavy at 16" long, 12" wide and about 1 3/4" in height on the sides. It is in excellent condition on the front side but the back has 2 chips on the edge which have darkened with age. If you don't mind the flaws on the back, this is still a gorgeous serving piece that would mix in well with other blue and white pieces, or just display it on a wall or shelf and the chips will be completely hidden!
