Please pay attention to the photos because they make up most of the description! This listing is for a very rare, vintage 1993 Accents Unlimited (Wee Crafts) unpainted plaster dinosaur sculpture. This large sculpture is of a Tyrannosaurus Rex. It is made of gypsum plaster. This sculpture is 11 inches long, 7 inches wide and about 8 inches tall. It is heavy for its size. The kit comes with a Tyrannosaurus Rex sign that can be painted. A small area on the top rear portion of the sign had a crack in it and I have included this. Please note: the base of this kit was started by me many years ago with a light wash of a brown colored acrylic paint. This can easily be painted over if you choose to do so. This is the only part of the kit that was started. I have included some photos of my painted version of the same kit. These are for reference only and these photos are not included with the kit. The kit you would be buying comes unpainted (with the exception of the stated brown wash on the base). This sculpture originally came as a kit that came with a couple of basic colors of paint and a very cheap plastic paintbrush. Please note that my listing does not include the paint, brush, instructions and original box. I’m only selling the plaster sculptures themselves. (Besides, it was lousy paint to begin with and due to its age would not be very good anyhow). Please check out my other plaster dinosaur listings on eBay. Please note that I only have one each of the four different unpainted dinosaurs made by Accents Unlimited. I do combine shipping. I package these sculptures very carefully to prevent breakage during shipping. I have shipped hundreds of models and sculptures and only once had one broken in transit. Additionally each sculpture is placed in a plastic bag to keep it dry. Please open the box carefully when receiving it. These are heavy fragile items which is why the postage may be a little higher than normal. I am a very experienced model builder and painter and I even used to own my own architectural model building business. I have painted hundreds of plaster items over the years and I highly recommend this kit. It has excellent surface detail and if painted properly it will make a splendid display. I recommend using acrylic craft paints that you could get in an art or craft store. When thinning these paints I recommend adding a little bit of automotive windshield washing fluid or a small drop or two of dishwashing liquid. This works as a wetting agent and will help your paint perform better. When you have finished painting the sculpture give it about 24 hours to dry and then give it a coat of clear flat acrylic spray paint. This will seal it and it will look better than a gloss coat. (Make sure you also clear coat the underside to seal the plaster there too, because it is porous and could possibly grow mold if it was in a humid environment). After you have clear coated it with the flat spray take your paintbrush and use a high gloss clear acrylic paint to go over the eyes. This will make your dinosaur really come to life! Don’t be afraid to paint some of the leaves with a semi gloss or satin clear paint. I have spent a lot of time studying dinosaurs over the years and many of the experts believe that most dinosaurs probably had unique colorful patterns that would be similar to many of the lizards and reptiles found today. So, you certainly do not have to paint this as one giant brown or gray colored animal. I recommend that you check out some of the paleontology artwork that is available online and in books to give yourself some ideas. But since nobody knows what color these creatures originally were, let your imagination go wild! This listing is being sold “as is”. Please feel free to ask any questions.
