JAY OR THE PROFESSOR TO ALMOST ALL WHO KNEW HIM, WAS A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER, PUBLISHER, AND ENTREPRENEUR FROM MINNESOTA WHO PLAYED A MAJOR ROLE IN DOCUMENTING THROUGH PHOTOGRAPHS THE SETTLEMENT AND EARLY HISTORY OF THE GREAT NORTHWEST.
