Get your start early on a new high quality flock! We are offering free shipping up to Thanksgiving*** The Jersey Giant is an American breed of chicken. They commonly are black but the newer more Rare color is what’s called a “blue” or "Splash". This blue is often mixed with black and grey feathering. The Jersey giant is renowned for most for its size and “gentle giant nature”. They lay extra large brown eggs and are excellent as winter layers were other breeds slow during the cold and shorter days. The males we maintain are the friendliest of all the roosters and breeds we maintain on our ranch. The breed has beautiful thick feathering and gorgeous black eyes with vivid red combs. They are considered a dual purpose bird meaning they can be raised to lay eggs as well as eaten for the meat due to their large size. This is a breed we only offer at select times generally during the winter after the new year and stop upon spring. We do this to keep our bloodline healthy and give our customers something more exclusive for a short time. These truly are stunning birds in appearance, behavior, and genetics. This is a large heritage breed that surely friends and family have all seen or heard of over the years for their large size and docile nature! However like many breeds, often times with too much breeding and popularity the bloodline and genetics can start to diminish to more undesirable traits with time. Our birds (when hatched from eggs in listing and grown out) are larger in comparison to hatchery bought chicks or eggs. This is a fact. We know you'll be please with this amazing and versatile breed, as well as knowing it has a strong maintained bloodline that we take a tremendous amount of pride in maintaining.
