Up for sale in this listing is an extremely rare, Belgian poster, promoting the cult classic horror film, Circus of Horrors (1960), starring Anton Diffring, Erika Remberg, Yvonne Monlaur, Donald Pleasance, and Yvonne Romain. Beyond the fact that the poster is In extremely nice condition, with vibrant colors, what makes this particular copy of even greater interest to collectors is the fact that it employs an alternate title, Les Crimes de l’Amour (Crimes of Love or Crimes of Passion), apparently referencing the work of the Marquis de Sade. Though I’ve owned this poster for roughly 25 years, after purchasing it in Paris, it wasn’t until I began preparing this listing that I first observed that this poster bears an alternate title— and if I had noticed that fact back when I purchased it, I’m sure I assumed that Les Crimes de l’Amour was the simply the title under which the film was originally released in French-speaking countries. However, as I did a little research, I only just discovered that the film was in fact released under the title Le Cirque de Horreurs in both France and Belgium, and I have been unable to establish, either online or in books, if and when the film ever played under this title. In fact, I’ve never seen another copy of the poster with the same title. As I mentioned in the headline, this poster is in remarkably nice condition, with vibrant colors. What imperfections I have detected are relatively minor and are on display in the photos I’ve posted. Please analyze them carefully. These imperfections are mainly in the form of very small pinholes, some minor rumpling/ fraying/discoloration along a couple of edges and at some corners, some very light writing in pencil in the upper right corner of the border area (someone wrote the number 250), as well as on the back of the poster.
