The copyright page states 'First Printing, March 1973' near the bottom of the page, and above it lists 'First Printing' to 'Tenth Printing' which was someone's misunderstanding of how to put in a printing status bar, making this a first printing. This novel was created by Andre Norton combining two Garan stories, novelette The People of the Crater (aka Garan of Tav) and novella Garan of Eu-Lac, the stories were reedited. The first story had several publications, the first publication of the complete second story was originally published in hardback by FPCI in 1972 in a collection titled Garan the Eternal that contained the original versions of the two stories and two other non Garan short stories. Label signed by author Andre Norton without inscription or personalization applied to the title page. Condition: Binding - very good, slight edgewear, no spine reading creases, no front or rear cover hinge creases but the rear cover has a running from top to bottom toward the side edges and there is a heavy dark colored scratch running from the bottom to about half way up getting fainter as it goes, corners very slightly bumped, insides of cover brown around the edges, page edges tanning from the edges inward.
