1993 Bill of Rights Silver Half Dollar - "Young Collector's Set"

Description: As part of the modern commemorative series, the US Mint has sometimes issued commemorative coins in a special "Young Collector" edition, with special packaging oriented towards young people. This 1993-W silver half dollar honoring the bicentennial of the Bill of Rights was, in fact, the very first such "special edition" package issued. This item features an outer card cover (shown in the first and last photographs above) and an inner card that folds out which contains the actual 1993-W half dollar and includes information on coin collecting directed at young people. The theme of the presentation is that the coin "could open a whole new world for you," which is why, I guess, the artwork features young people (and a dog) wearing space suits and exploring another planet. It's a rather bizarre presentation, if you ask me, but there it is! The packaging is in very good condition, with a slight indentation on the upper right side of the outer card holder which is probably "as issued." The coin included seems very brilliant and in high grade condition but it is of course not graded and other than saying it is uncirculated and still in its original mint packaging, that is about all that can be said. One other note is that the reverse of the half dollar in this set does exhibit some very light golden-colored toning around the upper portion of the coin on the reverse side. Personally, I do not see this as anything adverse, this is similar in nature to "album toning" and is pretty nice looking. The precise mintage on these is not listed in the Red Book. Also, I should note that the 1993-W Bill of Rights half dollar shares, with the 1982 George Washington issues, the distinction of being the only modern half dollar commemorative coins that are issued in coin silver (90% silver), all of the other half dollars in the series are copper-nickel.
