Starting in the late 1940s Virginia Metalcrafters commissioned renowned sculptor Oskar Hansen to create a "Botanical Series". Natural materials - mostly leaves - were collected, moulded, and then cast in sold brass. This tobacco leaf dish/tray is amongst the larger pieces created for said series. Circa 1963 it includes a reference to the Tobacco Tax Council. Which was required at the time on anythng tobacco related.
