The cards feature a large color image, player name, and team on the front and the typical biographical information on the back. This is an attractive set overall due to the clean and simple design, though the colors feel drab at times after the previous few offerings. That's just my view. Some collectors enjoy the conservative design and the fact that the picture takes up most of the front - similar to the 1957 set. This set is notable for introducing the popular league leader cards and the all-star rookie trophy that would become a mainstay for decades. The complete set contains 587 cards. However, don't drive yourself nuts looking for cards #426, #587, and #588. They were never issued. You can find SIX Mickey Mantle cards in this set, though. Guess he was popular at the time. When the set was issues, each pack came with two stamps that could be collected and put into a book that Topps issued. A few notable rookie cards in this set include HOFers Juan Marichal, Billy Williams, and Ron Santo. While those are notable names, this set can be collected a little lighter on the wallet than a lot of series from this time period. 447
