Description: 1961 Gretsch 6122 Single Cutaway Country Gentleman Electric Guitar, Very Rare Version. As-is condition, binding deteriorating. This is a very rare Gretsch Country Gentleman Guitar. It is one of the last of the single cutaway models, but it has the dual dial up mutes, with red felt knobs, of the first double cutaway models. There are probably a few of these out there, but I have never seen one. Sold AS-IS Serial number 41xxx on the headstock plate. Imitation F-Holes Dual dial-up mutes, with red felt. Thin body Back pad with access plate (plate gone). It works. The electronics work well, volume and tone plus switch all function pretty good. No breaks or cracks. I have blacklight pictures of the common areas. It has some wear, but overall, in good cosmetic shape except for the binding. It is being sold as-is because it has the all-too-common Gretsch binding issues. The neck has a couple spots that are coming apart, but possibly could be glued down, probably should be re-bound. The body has multiple spots where the binding has already chipped off, and you can pull more off with your fingernail. There is rust and corrosion on the parts under the back plate, you can see it on the metal mute springs. It comes with the original case, which is in pretty good shape, and really does not show issues from the binding. Aside from the back plate being gone, everything looks original.
