Universal-International studio executives feel that John Gavin, above, has been catapulted into virtual screen stardom when he won over every other candidate in Hollywood the starring role opposite Lisa Pulver, noted Swiss actress and beauty, in ''There's a Time to Love,'' based on Erich Maria Remarque's best-selling novel of World War II, "A Time to Love and a Time to Die." Casting of Gavin in the most sought-after film role of the year in ''There's a Time to Love," follows the pattern set by Universal 27 years ago when another newcomer, Lew Ayres, was given the leading role in Remarque's "All Quiet on the Western Front" and emerged from the picture as one of Hollywood's top stars.
